The Murrey Adoption Story
Adoption has always been something we have been open to, but after 9 years of waiting on God to grow our family, He called us to it. We have always wanted children, and through a series of events including infertility, God helped us see in October 2015 that this calling was a gift for us to embrace.
By January of 2016 we began the process of adoption through the country of the Philippines, with the help of our beloved agency, All God’s Children International. The first 6 months was a scramble of doing mountains of paperwork, meeting with social workers, psychologists, doctors, and tax educators to get our home study and dossier completed. The goal was to have all this done so that we could then look at the bulletin the Philippines sends to our agency every month with waiting children from their special needs lists.
The process moved much quicker than we expected, for in May of 2016 our agency called and introduced us to a little girl’s profile, even though we hadn’t completed our paperwork yet. The phone call was one of those that makes one stop breathing and made us question how could this be happening so fast for us? After one week of praying and consulting with a pediatrician specializing in her special needs, we decided we would put in a request to the Philippines to make her ours. Knowing other families from other agencies saw her too and requested her, we waited three long months to hear that the Philippines had chosen our family profile!
In September we submitted our paperwork finally, and then we waited many long grueling months until February 14th, 2017, when we FINALLY got the news that the Philippines had OFFICIALLY chosen us and approved ALL our paperwork. We can now get her ready to travel, meaning we are processing immigration paperwork, and the Philippines is getting her Visa and Passport ready!
Our daughter will be 2.5 years old this summer and we plan to travel to bring her home this July. God has blessed us abundantly with so many supporters and ways to pay for this adoption fully. It has costed us approximately $30,000.00 to become a family and safe haven for this precious little girl. This Gobena Coffee fundraiser is being launched near the end of our journey as we raise the last few thousand we need to complete this adoption. Thank you so much for your support and we hope you enjoy the coffee from a very special company!
