From a very young age, we both knew that we were called to adopt. God had placed a seed in our hearts at a young age that continued to grow within us as the years’ past. When I (age 31) met Jillian (age 26) it was love at first sight…literally. We both had been single for quite some time and had given up on finding a mate. When we married a year later, we quickly discovered that we were unable to have children. Thankfully, God called us into ministry where we served as youth pastors for 3 years and helped fill a gap while we grieved. During this time we took in our first international student, Gift. Gift was from Bangkok, Thailand and opened up our eyes to the potential ministry that existed by availing our home to students from all over the world. Since this time, we have housed over 9 students from Thailand, Taiwan, Italy, South Korea, Brazil, Germany and China. Some stayed for just a few weeks, while others remained for longer periods of time. In addition, we were surrogate parents to many students not living directly within our home. Over the years, we have offered advice, counsel and biblical wisdom to these “adopted” children that God so graciously placed in our home.
In 2014, we took a humbling trip to Thailand for the first time. Our hosts, the Sujirachatoe family, graciously showed us local culture and cuisine. During this visit, God began to cultivate a desire to adopt from this country. The rich history and wonderful people touched them deeply. We plan to raise our child within an international environment, sharing the beautiful things that come from people all over the world. We would appreciate any gift, whatever the amount, and vow to use this adoption to glorify God and His plan to share the love of family with those who are abandoned and lost.
